Who is Lord Jagannatha?
Jagannath is derived from Jagann?tha a Sanskrit name used to describe a deity form of Lord Krishna.
The term means master (natha) of the world (jagat).
Lord Jagannath and Lord Baladev, and Lady Subhadra are the presiding deities of the Canberra Temple.
What is the group about:
The Jagannath Youth Group is about young and the young at heart to meet up and engage in fun and enjoyable activities in the association of spiritual minded people.
It's about kirtan (chanting and dancing) and learning spiritual activities in the company of others.
This is a fairly new group and are looking to do a variety of fun activities throughout the year.
Please come along and bring your friends - your sure to have a good time. It's free and open to all.
Age Group
Anyone can come - no restriction age - we are all young by nature.
Group Philosophy
" harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam
kalau nasty eva nasti eva nasti eva gatir anyatha"
Translation
- A Sanskrit verse from Brhan-naradiya Purana which means
"In this age of Kali, there is no alternative, there is no alternative, there is no alternative for spiritual progress other than the chanting of the holy name, the chanting of the holy name, the chanting of the holy name of the Lord."
